IHG have opened Registration for its next global promotion. The promotion starts on 6 June 2023 and runs through 31 August 2023. There are 2 parts to the promotion and you should think carefully about which offer aligns with your travel pattern best, before making the selection.

Under the promotion IHG One Rewards Member can :

  • Earn 2,000 IHG One Rewards Points for every 2 Nights they stay at IHG Properties worldwide
  • Earn 10,000 IHG One Rewards Points for every 4 Nights they stay at IHG Properties worldwide

New IHG Promotion

It goes without saying that the second offer is the better of the two as it translates into earning an extra 2,500 points per night. Meanwhile, the first offer for 1,000 points per night isn’t as good.

The way I see it is this, if you think you are only going to stay with IHG between 2-3 nights at most during the promotional period, take the 1st offer. For stays of 4 nights or more, the 2nd offer is a no-brainer. But whichever offer you opt for, remember that once you make the selection there is no going back. So choose carefully.

Here are some of the terms and conditions to be aware of if you wish to earn points with this promotion :

  • Registrations are essential and you can do that through this link.
  • The promotion is valid for eligible nights consumed between 6 June 2023 – 31 August 2023.
  • IHG describes an eligible stay as a minimum 1-night stay at a participating hotel booked under a Qualifying Rate, with a total spend exceeding $30 USD (or local equivalent) for each night.
  • Award Nights (ie. Points booking) are not considered eligible nights for the purpose of this Promotion.
  • It may take up to 6 weeks for bonus points to be credited, although in my experience they generally post alongside regular points.

Earning Points with IHG One Rewards

  • All IHG members earn 10x points (10 points per $1) on eligible stays at most IHG brands, with the exception of Candlewood suites and Staybridge suites where the earning is halved to 5x points.
  • IHG Silver members earn 20% bonus (12x points), Gold members earn 40% bonus (14x points), Platinum members earn 60% bonus (16x points) and Diamond members earn 100% bonus (20x points).
  • All IHG members earn points on incidental spends such as dining or spa treatments during the stay.

In Conclusion

IHG One Rewards members have a new promotion to look forward to. They can opt to earn 2,000 bonus points after every 2 nights or 10,000 points after every 4 nights consumed at IHG properties.

Personally speaking, I find IHG One Rewards to be one of the more competitive Hotel Loyalty Programs these days. If you are an IHG loyalist, it absolutely makes sense to register for the promotion, if not I wouldn’t suggest you go out of your way to stay with them.

For one, the promotion doesn’t exactly scream value, unless you are staying at some of the cheaper properties around Asia. Secondly, IHG lacks the luxury footprint (at least within Australasia) that the likes of Marriott or Hilton offer.

With the exception of InterContinental and select Kimpton properties, other brands are pretty meh.
